How to Knit a Veil Stitch

In the world of knitting, there are hundreds of different types of stitches that combine to make wonderful items such as scarves and mittens. Veil stitches are reminiscent of a beautiful wedding veil. Follow the directions to knit this beautiful stitch.

Instructions

1. Tie a slip knot on the end of one of your knitting needles. This counts as your first stitch and is referred to as casting on. Push the point of the needle into your yarn. Hold this needle in your dominant hand and hold the rest of the ball of yarn in your other hand.

2. Wrap the material over your right needle using the left needle. Then move it under and over your left needle this time using your right needle and under and over your right needle again using the left needle. You are creating 3 "yo's."

3. Distance your knitting needles just a bit making sure your stitches or your slip knot do not fall off of either of your needles.

4. Pull the third yo you made through the first yo and the stitch using the hook on your opposite knitting needle. Do this gently so they do not fall off of the needle.

5. Tug the stitch and the yo off the right needle very gently so it does not fall apart.

6. Repeat these steps for each row of your project. You do not have to tie a slip knot each time you start a new row.

7. Integrate different colors into your knitting by using different colored material. You can alternate colors with different rows of veil stitches. Mix it up by using this stitch with other stitches to create a more interesting pattern. Be creative and have fun.
