It is a sad fact of the corporate world that many businesses fail to show appreciation to their customers. If you want to build a loyal customer base that will return to your business for their future needs it is important to show customer appreciation. Read on to learn how to show customer appreciation.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Write a customer appreciation plan. Most business owners write a business plan, but they rarely think to write a customer appreciation plan. Outline in the writing the things that you will do this year to show your customers how valuable they are to your business.

  2. Step 2

Educate employees on customer appreciation. Explain to them the monetary value of each customer. Showing customer appreciation is a skill that needs to be learned. Teach your employees these skills and reinforce their use in your business. Set simple guidelines such as requiring that each employee say "Thank you" to the customer at the end of every transaction.

  3. Step 3

Personalize your service as much as possible. Learn the first names of your repeat customers and use their name when you are speaking to them. Make eye contact when talking to a customer and let them know that you care about their satisfaction with your business.

  4. Step 4

Send a thank you card to customers who make large purchases from your business. Tell them in the card that you appreciate their business and let them know that you are available to help if they have any problems with their purchase or have any additional needs in the future.

  5. Step 5

Offer discounts, incentives and freebies to your loyal customers. Thank them for their business and give them an incentive to return to you for future purchases by using customer loyalty discounts or give them a small gift free with their purchase so they will remember you next time they need something that your business offers.
