1
Cut a hole in the lower middle of the coffee can lid. The size of the hole will depend on the species of bird you want your bird house to accommodate. Make a smaller hole using a hole punch directly below the entrance hole.
-
2
Paint the coffee can lid black. Paint the bird house alternating with yellow and black paint along the ripples of the coffee can. Start with yellow directly below the lid.
-
-
3
Place the lid on the coffee can bird house when the paint is dry. Line up the holes on the lid with the glue that remained when you removed the label.
-
4
Apply a weatherproof sealer to the coffee can bird house. This will prevent sun, rain and wind damage. When dry, glue on the googly eyes directly above the coffee can bird house entrance, and insert a small, wooden dowel into the smaller hole to make a perch.
-
5
Curl a pipe cleaner by wrapping it around a pencil then remove it. Fold the pipe cleaner in half and glue it to the coffee can bird house directly above the googly eyes.
-
6
Make wings with a square of white fun foam. Cut two raindrop shapes from the foam and glue them to the coffee can bird house.
-
7
Drill two holes through the wings into the coffee can. Run fishing line through the holes and hang the coffee can bird house from a tree.
