How to Make a Rainbow Fan
When you remodel your home or paint your walls you usually end up with a number of paint sample cards that you have no use for. Instead of throwing them away round them up and make a rainbow fan. Children will really enjoy this project and you will feel good about recycling. Follow these steps to learn how to make a rainbow fan.

1
Collect paint sample cards in various colors. You can find these in the paint department of your local do-it-yourself store. They are free and come in several colors and shades.
-
2
Punch a hole in the top and bottom of each paint card. Use a ruler to make sure your hole is centered. If the hole is off-centered, the rainbow fan will appear awkward.

3
Stack the paint sample cards evenly and insert a paper fastener into a hole at one end of them. If the cards have writing at one end, then that is the end where you should insert the fastener. This will form the base of the rainbow fan and allow the cards to pivot.
-
4
Run a piece of string through the remaining holes located at the top of the sample paint cards. This will form the top of the rainbow fan. Knot the string at the end of the first and the last paint cards and cut off the excess string.
-
5
Spread the paint sample cards apart to form a rainbow fan. Make sure that you can view every card individually.
