In-laws sometimes have trouble accepting the quirks of their children's spouses. This does not mean they don't like you. It just means you are different than the child they are use to--the one they raised. Your job is to show respect to your in-laws for the sake of your spouse. Read on to learn how to camp out at the in-laws.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Aspirin
  • Your own pillow
Step1
Pick a spot or let your mother-in-law tell you where to sleep.
Step2
Prepare the fold out couch as if it was your bed at home. The mattress is uncomfortable no matter how much padding is beneath you. At least enjoy some nice clean sheets and a warm blanket.
Step3
Pitch a fit only if you don't want to be invited back. Remember you married their daughter or son.
Step4
Throw any thoughts of free time out the window. Your job is to cater to your in-laws' every whim. Do as they ask, not as they do.
Step5
Realize you will dig a hole in your marriage quickly if you have lack of respect and consideration for the struggles your in-laws have had.
Step6
Shield yourself from any criticism. Offer to cook, clean up and always turn the sofa bed back to its original condition as soon as your feet hit the floor in the morning.
Step7
Organize your next trip to the in-laws whenever your spouse wants to return. Remember something could always pop up at work so you don't have to go.

Tips & Warnings

  • Just give in--the visit to the in-laws really will end.
