Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step1
Eliminate technical jargon and write out abbreviations and acronyms. Remember that the public and not a group of trained professionals are viewing the presentation.
Step2
Use self-explanatory text. Imagine the audience has no background information about the product or service. Simplify conclusions and assumptions. Clarify the links between subjects.
Step3
Consider the speed of the kiosk's computer connections. If it is not high-speed, reduce the size of the presentation. Do this by accessing the "Compress Pictures" option on PowerPoint's main tools menu.
Step4
Make the presentation run automatically in a mall for viewers who may not be comfortable using a computer keyboard. At a trade convention with a smaller audience more accustomed to using presentation software, make a more interactive program. Follow the prompts on PowerPoint's "Slide Show" option on the main file menu.
Step5
Alternate slides between text and graphics. Use "Arial" as an easy to read font. Increase the font size so that viewers several feet away don't strain to read it. Eliminate difficult to read italics.
Step6
Insert graphics that don't divert viewers' attention away from the product or service. Keep the color scheme of the slides and pictures simple and harmonious to avoid focusing attention on the graphics alone.
Step7
Do a trial run on a random group of non-sales professionals. Ask the group to view the presentation and write down anything unclear or detached. Use this feedback to revise the presentation accordingly.
