Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Decide on the breed of rabbit you want as a pet before you buy a cage. Different breeds have different needs.
Step2
Determine the size of the cage. Know the size of the rabbit and ask a salesperson for the right size of food dish and water bottle for the rabbit.
Step3
Pick a place in your home for the rabbit cage that is out of the way, yet not isolated. Rabbits like human companionship.
Step4
Search online for rabbit cages that are more than a cube. Try to find a cage that has extensions so the rabbit can hop from room to room. This will help stimulate the rabbit and provide a change in atmosphere.
Step5
Select a rabbit cage that allows the door to remain open. Rabbits are trainable creatures. Train your rabbit to use litter boxes just like other domestic animals.
Step6
Survey your backyard fence in all or a portion of the space for the rabbit to exercise.
Step7
Purchase rabbit supplies at your local pet store. Shop for the rabbit cage last. The cage will need to be big enough to house the rabbit, food dishes and water bottle with enough room left over for the rabbit to hop around.
