How to Make a Wire Candelabra
You can feature a wire candelabra as a centerpiece on your dining room table or you can use it to provide accent light. Using different sizes of wire and a few baubles, you can create a candelabra that also functions as an art piece. Read on to learn how to make a wire candelabra.
Things You'll Need
- 5 to 7 yards of 14-gauge wire
- Tape measure
- Wire cutters
- Pencil or chalk
- Wooden spoon
- Wire whisk handle
- Pliers, various styles
- E-6000 Glue
- Baubles
- Spool of 18-gauge wire
- Spool of 20-gauge wire
- Five candles
Instructions

Make the Candle Holders

Cut the 14-gauge wire into five pieces that are 36 inches long.

Measure 10 inches on each piece of wire and mark with a pencil or chalk.

Start at the 10-inch mark and wrap one section of wire around the handle of a wooden spoon, leaving ½-inch spaces between the coils. Continue to coil the wire until you have a section that is 4 to 5 inches in length.

Switch from the wooden spoon to the handle of the wire whisk. Coil until you are within 1 ½ inch of the end of the wire.

Bend the uncoiled top into a backward "C" shape.

Glue flat marbles, glass pieces or other baubles to the "C" shape.

Repeat Steps 3 through 6 with each piece of 36-inch-long wire.
Create the Base of the Candelabra

Gather all five candle holders together.

Start at the 10-inch mark and wrap 4 to 5 inches of the 14-gauge wire with 18-gauge wire. Make these coils should be tight, without any space between them.

Bend the remaining length of 14-gauge wire to form the base of the candelabra. Bend the pieces in different directions to add stability.

Use round nose pliers to spiral the pieces.

Glue your decorative baubles to the spirals.

Position the top of the candle holders in different directions for additional stability.
Decorate the Candelabra

Cut several 6-inch pieces of the 20-gauge wire.

Wrap 3 inches of the wire around a bauble, starting at the edge of the wire.

Secure the wrapped bauble to the candelabra by coiling the remaining 3 inches of wire into the candelabra.

Repeat Steps 2 and 3 until you're satisfied with the look of your candelabra.

Slide tapered candles into the candle holders.

Tips & Warnings
Use the wire whisk handle to make coils large enough to hold the candles.
Wrap LED or Christmas lights around the wire to make a candelabra that can be lit without candles.
Coils should not cut into the candles.
