Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Square origami paper
  • Black marker
  1. Step 1

Position the origami paper as a diamond with the color side facing down. Work on a firm, flat surface, bringing the top point of the diamond down to the bottom point. Fold and crease the paper in half to make a triangle.

  2. Step 2

Fold both the right and left points of the triangle down into the bottom point to create another diamond. Take those two flaps and fold them out at an angle approximately half way up each side of the diamond for the koala's ears.

  3. Step 3

Blunt the points of the ears by folding the top tip down.

  4. Step 4

Shape the head. Fold the top corner of the diamond down to make it level with the ears. Turn the bottom point up to the right. Repeat by turning the new bottom point up to the left to form a less angular chin.

  5. Step 5

Flip the model over and draw with a black marker two wide round eyes and an oval nose.

Tips & Warnings
  • Gray origami paper makes a more realist koala.
  • The artist may add to the koala by creating a scene on a blue background using a tree trunk cut from brown paper and eucalyptus leaves cut from green paper.
