Step 1
Get tickets as early as possible. While the race is held in May, tickets go on sale as early as January in certain venues. The earlier you buy, the better chances you have of getting a good seat.
-
Step 2
Contact the arena directly. This may be your best option if you are buying tickets at the last minute or very early, as the window may have remainders (or last-minute returns) long after ticketing offices have sold out.
-
Step 3
Get tickets online at Imstix, the official Indy 500 website's ticket office (see Resources below). The website also sells tickets to companion events, such as the Allstate 400 and the Red Bull Indianapolis GP. It also sells secondary entrance tickets to pre-race events, including the Carburetion Day Ticket, so you can see the cars prepare for the race.
-
Step 4
Buy your tickets through ticket brokers. These companies either sell online or have ticket booths in shopping malls or music stores. Companies such as TicketMaster often have specials and discounts for tickets bought at least 60 days in advance of the races or tickets combined with others (see Resources below).
-
Step 5
Look into auction sites like eBay if you cannot find tickets through conventional mediums (see Resources below). Keep in mind that tickets sold at auction will often go for much more than their original price, so be ready to pay the difference.
