If you're a fan of Angelina Jolie or the "Lara Croft Tomb Raider" films and games, you might like to make a Tomb Raider costume. You'll feel powerful and sexy as you show off your fighting moves and athletic abilities in a black costume. Most of the things you need to make a Tomb Raider costume can be found in regular stores, your children's toy box and your own closet.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Black shorts
  • Black tank top or khaki t-shirt
  • Leg holsters
  • Black combat or hiking boots
  • Toy guns or airguns
  • Black temporary haircolor
  • Wig (optional)
  • Sunglasses (optional)

Make the Outfit

Step1
Get a pair of tight, black, boy-leg shorts. The best kind to wear are a cotton and spandex blend, but any kind of tight shorts will work. If you cannot find boy-leg shorts for women, any shorts will do as long as they are black and not too loose or too long.
Step2
Wear a black tank top or a khaki t-shirt. Lara Croft wears different costumes in her different games and films, so either top will work as part of an authentic costume. To stay true to Lara, make sure your shirt fits tightly.
Step3
Get two leg holsters, one for each leg, and fake guns to match. You can make your own leg holsters out of elastic or velcro strips and place the guns in there. Airguns or toy machine guns will look best with this costume.
Step4
Purchase black military combat-style boots. They should be comfortable enough to walk in if you are going trick or treating, or to dance in if you're wearing your costume to a party. Black hiking boots will also work for a Lara Croft costume.

Do the Hair

Step1
Dye your hair black temporarily. You can buy special spray-on color that is made for Halloween and theatrical use. If your hair is already dark, you probably don't need to color it.
Step2
Braid your hair down the back of your head. Lara Croft always wears this style to keep her hair out of her way for her active lifestyle.
Step3
Wear a wig if your hair isn't long enough to braid like a true Tomb Raider. Try costume shops or thrift stores for inexpensive wigs.

Tips & Warnings

  • Accessorize with sunglasses if you care to wear them. Lara Croft wears them when she needs to, but this isn't the most important aspect of the costume. You can do without them if you can't find the right kind.
