How to Watch a Triple Crown Race Online

In horse racing, the Triple Crown is a term used to describe a series of three races that take place from early May through June. If a horse wins all three events, he's said to have won the Triple Crown--a feat that has only happened 11 times since 1875. Many people join online betting and gambling websites so they can place wagers without attending the track in person. These betting websites may get permission from the track to air streaming videos of Triple Crown events. In addition to gaming purposes, the Internet is an amazing resource for archival footage of these three great legend-making races.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Watch streaming videos of the biggest races, such as the big three--the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes and the Belmont Stakes--on network TV. This is the easiest way to follow the races live. Nevertheless, some networks blackout coverage.
Step2
Watch archived footage of the Kentucky Derby at the official website for Churchill Downs (see Resources below). You can view cool race footage, as well as amusing celebrity interviews online any time of the day.
Step3
Go to the website for the National Thoroughbred Racing Association and check out the Triple Crown race footage in the video archives (see Resources below).
Step4
Check out the selection of Belmont Stakes videos from the New York Racing Association website (see Resources below). You'll find cool archival footage dating back to the 1930s. Make sure you have a Broadband modem for best viewing results. You may have to download a RealPlayer media player if you don't have one on your computer.
Step5
Log onto Youtube and search for Kentucky Derby, Preakness or Belmont Stakes race footage (see Resources below). You'll find last year's results, as well as cool looking archives dating back several years.

Tips & Warnings

  • TiVo Triple Crown races if you want to replay or review them. Broadcast grade video is much sharper than the image quality you'll get online.
  • The videos on Youtube tend to be grainy and somewhat unreliable as historical documents. Most videos are uploaded by fans, and they may have been altered using advanced editing equipment. Do not rely on these videos for gaming purposes.
