Through the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum, you can take a guided tour of the Wimbledon grounds. Under the guidance of a knowledgeable tennis historian, you will learn all the well-known facts and lesser-known secrets about Wimbledon that have built up over the many long years these prestigious tournaments have been held.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Camera

Step1
Head to the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum, located adjacent to the main courts of the All English Tennis Club, where Wimbledon tournament events are held. All official guided tours of the All English Tennis Club grounds originate from and are sanctioned by the museum itself.
Step2
Respect the museum's opening hours, and show up early if you want to be sure of securing a place in a guided tour. With a few exceptions, the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum is open for operation daily from 10:30 a.m.until 5:00 p.m. The last admission takes place at 4:30 p.m, though you likely won't be able to catch up with a guided tour if you wait until late in the afternoon.
Step3
Pay your admission fee, selecting the upgrade for a guided tour. When you pay your entry to the museum, you have your choice of two rates: general admission or tour. You want the latter.
Step4
Participate in the tour of the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum. Ask your tour leader for information on guided tours of the Wimbledon grounds, which are made accessible to museum patrons who have paid for guided tours of the museum.
Step5
Assemble with a tour group to take a guided tour of the tennis stadiums. There will be a designated starting point for guided tours of the Wimbledon grounds, which your museum guide or a museum staff member will point out to you.
Step6
Follow your tour leader and learn all about the history of the Wimbledon tennis tournaments, the courts and stadiums where events are held, and key event builders and players who made the tournament what they are today. Make sure you have a camera with you, as you'll likely want to take pictures to commemorate the interesting and unique experience of the Wimbledon guided tour.

Tips & Warnings

  • Expect your guided tour to take 1 to 2 hours to complete. During peak times, there may also be a wait period for tours, though they are generally relatively short, tending to last 15 minutes or less.
  • The museum is closed from December 24 to 26, on January 1, as well as the middle Sunday during the Wimbledon tournament and the Monday following the conclusion of the tournament.
