Many consumers make the mistake of relying on one resource for their sunglasses. There are dozens of places to find sunglasses in your community as well as the Internet that offer a variety of styles and prices.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Troll outlet stores for your favorite brands to get deals on last year's sunglasses. Most major communities have at least one outlet mall with plenty of high-end retailers offering clearances on sunglasses.

  2. Step 2

Bookmark the website of your favorite eye wear company to get deals on online exclusives. Sunglasses and other products that are sold exclusively through the retailer's website cannot be found in stores. Calculate shipping costs to determine if a comparable pair of sunglasses available in stores would be a better deal.

  3. Step 3

Use an online comparison tool in order to get timely deals on sunglasses. Websites like mySimon create updated lists on a daily basis from dozens of sunglasses retailers for easy access (see Resources below).

  4. Step 4

Walk past dozens of stands and tents at summer fairs to find deals on sunglasses. Retailers sell discontinued sunglasses at state fairs and bazaars to clear out their inventories. Ask to inspect a pair of sunglasses outside of its case to confirm authenticity.

  5. Step 5

Compile a list of orders from friends, family and co-workers to get a deal on bulk sunglasses purchases. You need to contact a brand's sales office directly with your order to assess the potential for bulk discounts.

  6. Step 6

Test out the frames, hinges and arms of sunglasses to get the best deal possible. A single pair of metal-framed sunglasses that lasts for the entire year is a better value than a series of cheap sunglasses made out of plastic.

  7. Step 7

Inquire the owner of a glasses repair shop in your community about deals on sunglasses. The owner may be selling inexpensive glasses constructed from used parts that are as durable as new products. Stores may sell off abandoned sunglasses left by past customers after a certain amount of time for donations to charity.

Tips & Warnings
  • Track seasonal sales at local optical stores to get deals on sunglasses. The best time to get sunglasses through an optical store is at the end of the summer season when new lines are coming through. You can increase your savings by using the same store for prescription changes and lens adjustments.
