How to Rent Wedding Arches

Nothing accents an outdoor wedding better than a graceful arch that frames the loving couple as they exchange their vows. Of course there are many options when it comes to renting a wedding arch, but learning a few quick and easy tips will have you saying, "I do" just as you've always pictured it.

1. Measure the space that you have for the arch. You may have a grand spectacle in your imagination, but some spaces will only accommodate so much, so be sure the arch you rent will actually fit where you would like to place it.

2. Determine how you will need to anchor the arch. On the beach or in the woods, it's easy to anchor the arch in the sand or earth. However, if your ceremony will be on any kind of platform, concrete or walkway, you'll need to be sure that you can secure the arch in some manner.

3. Choose the kind of arch you would like. There are simple metal arches and large chuppah-like arches to choose from. You can even get an arch made of balloons or dried vines that have been draped over a metal structure to maintain their shape.

4. Find out if the arch will come decorated. Arches are pretty unattractive structures all by themselves, so they will inevitably need to be dressed up for your big day. If the rental company you choose to work with does not provide the decorations, a little tulle and some ribbon will work wonders.

5. Inspect the arch before signing the delivery confirmation. Keep in mind that these arches have likely been moved, assembled and then disassembled hundreds of times before, and little pieces like screws can be easily lost.

6. Evaluate your budget. If you're looking for just a simple metal arch, it may be cheaper to outright purchase one. If you decide to purchase an arch you can place it in your garden to enjoy the memories of your wedding for years to come.

7. Ask the company where you will rent your arch whether they will offer you a discount for renting multiple decorations.

8. Schedule the delivery early enough to ensure that it will be properly secured and decorated before the guests arrive.

9. Designate someone to return the arch to the rental company and to pick up any rent deposits that may have been required. Many rental companies will deliver, but if you can afford to transport the arch yourself you may save on delivery fees.
