There are a variety of ways to follow horse racing at Los Alamitos that will help you maximize entertainment value.

Gather a group of friends to follow horse racing at Los Alamitos in The Vessels Club. This bar and restaurant is comparable to a yachting club house with plenty of televisions and windows to watch the day's races in comfort.
Step2
Save your Racing Rewards card for future trips to Los Alamitos Racetracks. The Racing Rewards system keeps track of an attendee's bets and visits to the park. Frequent gamblers and visitors can exchange accumulated points for rewards through the park's vendors.

Enjoy a turkey sandwich and a cold drink in the morning from Schwanies at the Gap. This casual restaurant features an open-air seating area next to the track, which is open through the early afternoon.
Step4
Check the calendar of workouts at Los Alamitos to get a behind-the-scenes look at future race participants. The operators of Los Alamitos stagger workouts to provide jockeys and horses with sufficient rest.
Step5
Reserve a large table at the Turf Terrace to grab dinner before you head out to the featured race at Los Alamitos. The Turf Terrace has closed circuit television, as well as windows onto the track, to help visitors stay fed without missing a minute of action.
Step6
Hold a special event with friends and family at the Finish Line Restaurant in Los Alamitos. Your group can dress up, head to the tracks and enjoy fine dining with some friendly wagers on the side.
Step7
Choose multiple dates to take advantage of year-round racing at Los Alamitos. You can follow standardbred and thoroughbred races between Thursday through Sunday every week of the year, outside of Christmas week.

Tips & Warnings

  • Enter the grandstand area at Los Alamitos Racetracks for free if you meet certain age requirements. Racing fans and newcomers over the age of 62 gain free admission to the grandstands every day. Parents can bring children under 12 for free for a nice day at the tracks.
  • Benefit from the wisdom of handicappers and horse trainers by purchasing the track's daily program. A savings of a few cents is possible when you buy the program within the park instead of at an outside vendor.
