Fantasy horse racing, where a horse racing fan can breed, train and race an imaginary animal, has become a popular online pastime over the last few years. Fantasy horse racing is an ideal way to exercise one's knowledge and enthusiasm about the Sport of Kings, even after the racing season is over.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get involved with fantasy horse racing by first learning a little about the sport, and following at least one season of real horse racing. To be successful in fantasy horse racing, you need to know about proper horse training methods, jockey management, betting and other incidentals in the world or horse racing. Remember, you will be competing against individuals who may have followed the sport for their entire lives.

  2. Step 2

Choose the right league of fantasy horse racing based upon your skill and experience. Some leagues may offer a special category for first-timers, or those who are relatively new to the subtleties of horse training and racing. If you compete with others who have an equal knowledge of the sport, you will probably be more competitive, and have a much better time overall.

  3. Step 3

Decide if you want to get involved in a fantasy horse racing league that meets in person, or one that meets online. You should be able to find the former type through bulletin boards at local horse racing venues. Note that most leagues have deadlines to join, since the fantasy league will usually reflect the actual horse racing season.

  4. Step 4

Use online resources, such as Fantasy Horse Racing, to get involved with a league immediately (see Resources below). For a nominal fee, you can join the league at any time, develop your fantasy horse and even win cash and prizes.

  5. Step 5

Buy an online game, such as Horse Racing Fantasy, that will allow you to play in the world of fantasy horse racing without having to compete with others (see Resources below).

Tips & Warnings
  • Before buying or downloading any type of fantasy horse racing software, try a free demonstration of the actual game. This will give you an idea of how the game operates, what the graphics look like and whether or not you find it enjoyable.
