ProStroke World Tour Golf is one of the major competitors with EA's Tiger Woods Golf, although not nearly as well known or popular. It has been criticized for being uninspired, but critics and players agree that the swing mechanic is good and the realism it offers helps to keep the game interesting. When you play ProStroke World Tour Golf you need to master the swing in order to get ahead.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Xbox, or
  • Sony PSP, or
  • Sony Playstation 2
Step1
Choose the game mode you wish to play. ProStroke World Tour Gold doesn't come with many, favoring a straightforward experience to one that includes a lot of distractions.
Step2
Set up for your first shot. Setting up involves using the left and right thumbsticks to adjust your aim and trajectory. Use the left thumbstick to adjust your body position and the right thumbstick to adjust your swing.
Step3
Hold the right thumbstick along the bottom edge of the controller at the point that best suits the shot strength you want to use. For example, you'll want to drive with the right thumbstick all the way to the right, but you'll want to putt from closer to the bottom.
Step4
Pull the stick all the way left to swing. The more you pull and the faster you pull, the harder you will hit the ball.
Step5
Pull the left thumbstick to the left in order to shift your weight with the ball as you swing. The more you shift, the more added power you'll be able to give the ball in flight.
Step6
Keep up with your opponent. ProStroke World Tour Golf includes an opponent that you'll be challenging throughout your career. As you first begin to play you'll likely be dominated, but with practice you'll be able to start posting big enough numbers to challenge for the title.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep a close eye on the wind indicator during drives, but be aware that shot distances can sometimes vary greatly from hole to hole, and for no apparent reason. Whether this is luck or some mechanic not readily apparent, you'll just have to keep your shots tight and see what happens from round to round and compensate in the future.
  • Be aware that ProStroke World Tour Golf is not currently backwards compatible on the Xbox 360. In order to play ProStroke World Tour Golf you'll need to own the original Xbox system. In addition, the game is available for the PS2 and PSP.
