How to Play Real World Golf

Real World Golf for the Xbox console is one of the more complex golf video games to be released. This isn't just because it features a rather faithful game mechanic, but also because it comes with a "golf club" that enables players to feel like they're actually playing golf. With a swing of the club, you can putt on the green or just head to the driving range to practice in between tournaments.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • GameTrak system (included)
Step1
Put on the GameTrak gloves. The gloves, combined with the mini-club provided, give you control over your in-game avatar. Note that even minute movements will have an impact on screen. As such, keep your hands straight, particularly when making a shot.
Step2
Use the GameTrak foot pedal to cycle through menus and select menu options. With the foot pedal you can select golfers, game types and courses, as well as load previous progress.
Step3
Plant your feet as you normally would for a golf swing. Whether you're setting up for a drive or a putt, you generally want to stand with your feet shoulder width apart. Some prefer to putt with their feet together to help control their own body's input.
Step4
Choose your aim as you would for a real shot. Do you want to drive your ball down the left or the right of the fairway? Are you planning on trying for an eagle and powering right for the green? Stand oriented to the ball where you wish for it to go, with your toes pointing roughly perpendicular to the shot.
Step5
Swing with the GameTrak system the same way you would on a real golf course. Keep your knees bent, shift your weight, bring your hands back to the desired position (farther equals more force) and go. Just like real golf, however, remember not to hook or slice the ball when you swing.

Tips & Warnings

  • Play real golf before playing online in Real World Golf. True golfing experience is incredibly beneficial when you play Real World Golf, as all of the same techniques apply to both.
  • Be careful not to tangle the GameTrak wires when you take big swings. Always bring your hands back to neutral slowly and check for snags before you take another shot.
  • Don't play Real World Golf for long periods of time without taking short breaks from time to time--both to rest your eyes and rest your arms. Staring at the television screen for too long can lead to eye strain and headaches, and putting and driving for prolonged periods of time can make your muscles stiff.
