Golf video games come in two distinct categories: serious simulations and seriously over the top! Microsoft's Links can be considered one of the premier golf simulations. On the other end of the spectrum however, is Outlaw Golf 2 for the Xbox. While it's possible to simply play a great game of golf, there's something gratifying and stress relieving about getting to beat the snot out of your caddy!

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Xbox or Xbox 360 (backwards compatible)
Step1
Choose the game type you wish to play. A traditional golf mode is available, as well as Casino (bet on holes and win money and strokes) and Timed (finish first, regardless of how many strokes it takes).
Step2
Use the left thumbstick to move your aim left and right. This will help you line up the shot so that it falls where you want it to. When lining up your shot, you should also take note of obstructions on the way (sand traps, trees and water hazards, for example).
Step3
Adjust the trajectory of the ball by using the right thumbstick. Moving the thumbstick will change the height of the shot, as well as the pull or hook you wish to place on it.
Step4
Press the A button when you're ready to swing. The A button will begin the swing procedure and set up your shot.
Step5
Pull back on the right thumbstick to begin giving power to the shot. When you pull back, try to pull as straight as possible to prevent a hook or slice.
Step6
Push the right thumbstick forward. This will produce the stroke. Again, try to push the stick straight forward without moving it left or right to prevent a hook or slice.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep a close eye on your composure meter when you play Outlaw Golf 2. As you land great shots you'll see your composure meter rising. If you're missing shots, especially those on the green or very important shots, you'll lose your composure. If you're really beginning to lose composure, go ahead and smack your caddy around to blow off steam.
  • Mulligans are not available in every game mode, and any shot you take once you mulligan is still applied to your composure meter.
  • Whenever a shot lands within a foot of the hole, you're allowed to take what's called a "Gimmie." In Outlaw Golf 2 a Gimmie shot is essentially an automatic putt, but be aware that it still counts as a stroke.
