The gay pride parade movement has a history going back to 1970. It was on June 28, 1970 that the Gay Liberation Front put together a formal march through New York City to commemorate the infamous Stonewall Riots--the first major event in the gay right movement--a year before. Since then, there have been scores of annual gay pride events across the world, both formal and informal. If you want to go to a local gay pride parade, it shouldn't be hard to find one coming up in your area. Nearly every major city has a gay pride parade now.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Find out when local gay pride parades are happening. You can look in your local newspaper, inquire at a nearby gay outreach community center or check online at Interpride.org (see Resources below).
Step2
Find a group of good friends to go to the parade with. Parades aren't nearly as fun if you go on your own.
Step3
Arrive at the parade early to get a good spot. Gay pride events draw large crowds, so you'll need to claim your viewing spot 2 to 3 hours before the parade starts to make sure you'll see everything.
Step4
Bring plenty of snacks and bottled water.
