The summer solstice is the time when all the earth's beauty springs forth at its peak. This makes selecting the flowers for your Summer Solstice wedding one of the easiest tasks you'll do, since the only thing that can possibly limit your choices is your creativity. Your budget will play a major role as well, but it's your wedding after all, and flowers are always a good place to splurge.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide whether you would like your flowers to match the colors of your wedding theme, or if you would prefer to have a combination of colors. While matching your colors would create a tight consistent look to your wedding, a mixture of summer flowers creates an explosion of color that truly reflects the spirit of the summer solstice.

  2. Step 2

Select bright, joyous colors to help celebrate the day. The summer is filled with rich beautiful colors that you won't see during any other season.

  3. Step 3

Ask your florist about unusual or non-traditional flowers if you are having trouble finding just the right shade of a particular color. They may not have it in stock, but they will most likely be able to order it for you if you provide them with enough time.

  4. Step 4

Consider your budget and select your flowers based on the appropriate price range. Though exotic flowers may be pretty, flowers native to your location will be less expensive and allow you to select from just as wide a color pallet.

  5. Step 5

Explore the whole range of plants available to you for your wedding. Flowers are fabulous, but greenery is often overlooked for weddings and the summer solstice is the perfect time to utilize all of earth's offerings. Oak leaves and St. Johns Wort plants are both considered traditional for summer solstice celebrations, as are grains like wheat, barley and flax. Grape vines also make lovely hanging decorations or garlands.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember that computer monitor settings are all different, so a flower may show up a slightly different color when looking at it online. Also, bridal magazines and catalogs will often enhance the colors of flowers, so don't rely on them to show you the true color of the flowers when you look for ideas. If you're ever unsure about whether a flower will be the right color or not, you can always go find a florist to see the flower in person. If they don't have them in stock they will usually have no problem ordering a small amount for you to see before making your final decision.
