Whole grain foods, with their high fiber, high nutritional value and high "good" complex carbohydrates contained within them, are a wonderful source of energy and are filling. Switch your products to the whole-grain varieties by following these simple steps:

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • patience

Step1
Instead of white bread - look for 100% whole wheat breads! Look at the labels closely, to make sure, the bread of your choice is really 100 % whole grain.
Step2
Instead of refined paste - look for pasta made with about 50 % of whole grain, as their taste and texture is more pleasant then the 100 % whole grain varieties.
Step3
Instead of white rice - use slow-cooking brown rice
Step4
Instead of oatmeal - eat steal cut oats

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep in mind, that people who eat whole grain products on a regular basis, tend to weigh less than people who do not.
  • Remember to drink plenty of water, and caffeine-free herbal teas or green teas, to aid digestions of the increased fiber.
  • Increase your fiber intake gradually, to avoid becoming bloated.
  • Aim for processed carbohydrate foods, with a 3 to 5 gram fiber content.
  • Become more active! Changes in eating habits are wonderful, but have to go hand in hand with a change toward a more active lifestyle! It is easy to get moving, go out and have some fun!
