Step 1
Like aerobic classes? Try home workout videos to get you burning calories for less.
Want to save even more? Buy used VHS tapes online at stores like half.com, rent them from your local library, or pick some up from a garage sale.
VHS tapes will be cheaper then DVDs, but, if you threw out your VCR, or just don't like VHS then subscribe to an online DVD delivery service like Netflix or Blockbuster and rent them for a fraction of the cost of a monthly gym membership.
- Fitness tip: Don't just go through the motions. Earn the burn! -
Step 2
Did you know that jumping rope burns approximately 120 calories in 10 minutes? It is a great workout that is easy to fit into your day.
-Fitness tip: Break it up into intervals: 10 minutes in the morning, 10 minutes on break, and 10 minutes after work. You could burn 300 calories in no time (and at almost no cost). -
Step 3
Walking, obviously, is free. And so is running. Both are good for you, so fit them into your program.
-
Step 4
Save money by eating less. Don't over look this! You might be eating more then you should. The average plate is 10 inches in diameter. Switch to a 8.5 inch plate and you'll eat less. Now, fill up half that plate with vegetables, a quarter with lean proteins, and a quarter with carbs. That's a balanced meal at quite a deal!
-
Step 5
Buy frozen. Generally, those frozen bags of chicken breasts will be cheaper then fresher ones. And buying in bulk will get you more for your money. If you find a deal, buy lots of it and freeze it. The same goes for veggies. Canned and frozen vegetables are generally less expensive then fresh. However, it also won't hurt to find fresh produce deals at local farmers markets.

Step 6
Eat lower on the food chain. Try beans and rice. A cheap, protein-fiber superstar. Egg whites are good sources of protein too.

Step 7
Think you need help from a nutritionist? Check with your local YMCA or college. Sometimes there are certified people that can help you for a reasonable fee.
