Things You'll Need:
- Passport
- 4 passport-size photos (head shots)
-
Step 1
Make sure you have enough time. There are restrictions on how much time you have between your arrival in Taiwan and the submission of your work permit application. Health tests take at least a week.
-
Step 2
Find a hospital. Be careful: not all hospitals are equipped to perform the health examination. Ask your employer or contact your local branch of the Taiwanese National Health Insurance Bureau to find the hospital nearest you.
-
Step 3
Bring the necessary documents to the health desk. You will need your passport, four passport sized photos and the fee to pay for the exam. Some employers may reimburse you.
-
Step 4
Follow the route. Most hospitals have a clear, easy-to-understand system for health examinations. Follow the numbered stations which will include a blood test, a chest-exam, height and weight measurement and a quick chat with a physician.
-
Step 5
Before you leave make sure you know when the test will be ready. The people at the desk will mail your test to your employer if you desire. Some people find it safer just to pick up the test themselves.
-
Step 6
Consider extra insurance. Part of the benefit of working in Taiwan is the national health insurance scheme. But that doesn’t cover everything. Ask your travel agent about insurance or--if you are staying longer--contact a private company.
