How to Organize a Meal Shower for New Parents

Step1
Find a date and time to have the shower, I suggest doing it a week or so before the due date of the baby. This will ensure that the meals will be ready when the parents come home from the hospital. They will start their new life as parents out on full stomachs.
Step2
Send invitations to friends and family that tell everyone to bring a freezer meal to the shower. Have them fill the recipe card out with the recipe that they used so that the new mom also has the recipe for the meals that they really enjoy. You may want to list the two websites below as resources for great recipes for meals that freeze well and tips on preparing and packaging.
Step3
You can also have guests sign up to bring a hot meal during the first few days the new family is home also. This way they do not have to use the freezer meals yet and they do not even have to give it any thought those first few evenings at home.
Step4
As the hostess you may consider some of these options as your gift to the new family; Several freezer meals of your own, a gift card to the grocery store, groceries of lunch meat, bread and cereals.
