How to Begin Learning Magic

Though too broad to perfectly explain in a How To article, beginning to learn magic is not all that difficult. The actual learning can be very hard, but beginning to learn will aid your development. This tutorial will serve as a kickstart to your magical heart.

Instructions

1. Ask yourself why you want to do magic. For me, it was in order to have a lasting effect on people the way David Copperfield had on me.

2. Learn the history of magic. Not magic tricks-magic in general. Why does it work? How does it work? What are great techniques?

3. Get some props and START SLOW. Weightlifters slowly work their way up to heavier weights; they do not bombard themselves early on.

4. Read some of my simpler magic tutorials and practice on a close friend or family member.

5. Learn and master techniques such as double lifting and forcing, since they are like Magic DNA.

6. Never move to the next level (intermediate or advanced), unless you are ready. You will know when you are ready because you will be able to teach someone else.

7. Embrace failure-it teaches much more than success.
