How to Apply & Wear Blush
Applied blush should appear as close to a natural blush as possible. To achieve this, you need to use the proper blush color, apply it in the correct place on your cheeks and blend it outward. If the blush you choose is too dark or doesn't fit in with your natural coloring, it can look phony or resemble a high fever. You can appear the vamp, the innocent or just make yourself look prettier with the right amount of properly applied blush. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Pick a blush color that suits your complexion and overall coloring. Hues come in pink, coral, peach, bronze and other shades to highlight your skin tone and clothing. Match the color of your cheeks after some exercise to find your most natural blush shade.

2
Buy blush in powder, cream or gel form. Use powder or gel for oily skin and cream blush for dry or normal skin. Purchase at least two shades, a lighter color for daytime and a darker shade for evening and party wear. Use a makeup brush to apply powder blush and your fingertip to spread a dab of cream or gel blush.

Smile to find the "apples" of your cheeks while looking in the mirror. Begin in the center of your cheek and brush on the blush or spread it with your finger outward from your cheek to blend the color. For a more sophisticated look, suck in your cheeks and blend upward and outward. Always blend higher than your nostrils. Use a makeup sponge or tissue to blot away or blend excess blush.

Tips & Warnings
Experiment with blush to see which application works best with your face shape. You can make a round face appear less round by angling blush outward toward the hairline instead of applying it in a circle.
Wearing two blush colors can add depth and drama, as well as complement summer skin.
Depending on the season or event, you can add bronzer in the summer or shimmering powder over blush for a party.
If you have sensitive skin, choose a hypoallergenic blush.
Keep your application brush clean to avoid skin irritation.
Wash your hands after applying gel or cream blush, as the color could get on your clothing.
