How to Book a Train Ticket in French

  1. Step 1

Learn how to ask for a ticket to your chosen destination in French, for example if you need a ticket to Lyon, you should say "Je voudrais un billet pour Lyon s'il vous plaît."

  2. Step 2

Learn how to ask for either a single or return ticket according to your requirements. If you want a single ticket you should ask for "un aller simple s'il vous plaît." If you want a return, you should ask for "un aller."

  3. Step 3

Learn how to ask for either a second or first class ticket according to your wishes. If you would like a first class ticket, say, "Je voudrais une billet première classe." If you would like a second class ticket, say,
"Je voudrais un billet deuxième classe."

  4. Step 4

Once you have your ticket, you will want to know what platform the train will leave from, and will need to ask, "Quelle quai?" If you do not understand French numbers, ask for it to be written on a piece of paper. Say the following: "Est-ce que vous pourriez écrire le numero du quai s'il vous plaît."
