    Contact your local Area Agency on Aging. Many senior agencies offer free or reduced tax help for low-income senior citizens. Look in your phone book for contact information.

  2. Step 2

    Look up your local chapter of the AARP. Local chapter information is available on the AARP website. Each year the AARP offers free tax programs for senior citizens.

  3. Step 3

    Look in your phone book for local colleges that have accounting or law programs. Many times students will offer free tax services in exchange for class credit.

Tips & Warnings
  • Save all check stubs and receipts.
  • Many seniors use crafts or hobbies to make extra income. Keep a log of all hobby-related income and expenses as this income is taxable.
