How to Get Rid of Acne on Oily Skin

Acne plagues many people, and it can be a big problem for people with oily skin. Acne is the result of clogged pores. These pores are larger in the face where the oil-producing sebaceous glands are the largest in the body. People whose bodies produces a lot of oil get these glands clogged frequently, and thus require extra work to keep them clear and reduce the risk of acne. Instructions

1. Wash your face at least twice a day with a gentle cleanser that does not dry out. People respond differently to various cleansers. A cleaner that works for one person may not work for another. Use mild water because hot water will dry out the skin and make some medications useless.

2. Wash your hands frequently and avoid touching your face. The fingers help spread dirt and grime that interacts with the oil and irritates the acne. However, you can help to prevent passing oil from your hands to your face by frequently washing your hands.

3. Change the towels and pillowcases you use on a regular basis. Both can absorb the oil from your face, but can also pass it back. Remove makeup before going to bed, and do not use any oil-based cosmetics or cold creams, both of which enhance acne growth.

4. Alter your diet if you consume a lot of iodized salt. This is one of the rare cases where medical professionals recommend less fish.

5. Apply topical medicines to existing acne. The medicine must include either benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acids, resorcinol, or Retin-A. Retin-A may take a few months to work. Doctors may also recommend antibiotics for some forms of acne.
