If you have decided that you would like to help a charity raise funds for a program or annual giving campaign, here are some quick, easy and fun ideas that will help you reach you contribution goal. As I mentioned earlier, even small donations of $50 or less can make a huge impact for a small community charity. Many great programs have been launched on much less! Good luck!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A creative mindset
  • $ for supplies
  1. Step 1

Use only paper money for one month. Keep all of your change in a separate piggy bank or container. At the end of the month, cash in your coins and donate the money to your favorite charity!

  2. Step 2

Set up a collection jar on your office desk if your office policy allows. Combine this with a snack sale by purchasing granola bars, energy bars or bagged snacks in bulk from your local dollar or discount grocery store. Contribute all the profits to your favorite charity. NOTE: Be sure to pay for all the snacks that you eat!

  3. Step 3

Are you skilled in a craft or hobby? Think of a product that you think you may be able to sell to friends and family. Make a flier and take pre-orders of the item. For example, a friend of mine donates her time to make the best sweet potato pies that I have ever eaten and takes orders twice per year. She then donates all the proceeds to her favorite charity!

  4. Step 4

Do you have high quality fashions hanging in your closet that no longer fit or suit your taste? Register with a consignment store and have them sell your clothes for you. Donate your reimbursement check to your favorite charity!

  5. Step 5

Sell ANYTHING on Ebay! Do you have a closet full of collectible figurines, toys, vinyl records, or books? Browse Ebay first to get an idea of what is hot and what is not. List the items for sale and donate your profits to charity!

  6. Step 6

Create your own “Giving Circle” by recruiting family and friends to fundraise with you toward a common cause. You can do it alone, but imagine how much more you could donate if you had one or more friends working with you!

Tips & Warnings
  • The key is to be creative and follow through with your ideas. Some may work better than others, but I’ll warn you that fundraising can become very contagious, especially when you start seeing great things happening as a result of your contributions!
