Things You'll Need:
- Royale metallic crochet thread size 10, color natural gold
- DMC embroidery thread #5283
- K & C Company classic metal art flower brads #558649 or any other decorative brads
- Crochet hook size: US1 2.75mm
- Size 5/0 Seed bead, brown or color of your choice.

Step 1
The first thing is to determine you neck size so that you can chain a length that will fit. Make sure that you allow for the clasp space, or you will get a loose style.

Step 2
You will be using two different types of thread, Royale Metallic Crochet thread size 10 in Natural Gold, and DMC Embroidery Thread number 5283.
With the DMC, crochet your desired chain for your neck size. Chain 1 to turn.
Row 1: Sc in the next chains across the necklace.
Row 2: Sc in the next chains across the necklace.
Row3: Change color to the Metallic Natural gold and chain 1 to turn. Sc in each of the next seven stitches the chain 1 and sc back into the seventh stitch. This makes a small knot.
Continue this pattern to the end of the row. Ch 1 to turn. -
Step 3
You will need to add Brown size 5 seed beads to your yarn. It should be the same amount of beads as knots in your necklace.
Row 4: Sc in each of the next six stitches the chain 2 add a bead and chain 2 and sc in the ch 2nd from the knot in the previous row. Continue this to the end of the row. Chain 1 to turn.
Row 5: *Sc in each of the next six stitches, chain 4, the sc in the chain right in front of the bead from the previous row, ch 2, sc in the ch after the bead from the previous row. Chain 4*; repeat this across the row to the end. Don’t fasten off. -
Step 4
Finished NecklaceTo create the crochet button-hole clasp opening. Chain eight and join to a stitch near the top of the necklace. Work 13 sc into the hole and fasten to the necklace piece. Fasten off and weave tail into the base of the necklace.

Step 5
To create the crochet base for the medallion. Locate the middle of your necklace. Add a marker.
Row 1: Then go over six stitches on each side and place markers. Use a slip stitch and connect to the first set of six stitches. Sc in the next two chains, ch 8 chain and skip over to the next to the last stitch near the other marker, sc in the last 2 stitches. Ch 1 to turn.
Row 2. Row 14: Sc in all stitches, ch 1 to turn.
Now take the metal rat flower brads and place in the middle of the crochet medallion.
