Step1
Your first step is to find true wholesalers. True wholesalers simply receive products from the manufacturer and then resell the items at very low prices. You can find these types of companies online by doing a search of "(product type) wholesalers." Just be careful not to fall for some of the scams that offer to give you a list of wholesalers for a low price. You can find these same companies yourself with a little patience.
Step2
Once you do a search, start taking notes. Write down product types, pricing, minimum order requirements, etc., so you can compare your different options. You will find that the more you order the lower the price, but don't order 500 pieces of an item just because you can get them for $1.00 unless you know you can resell them for $5.00 tomorrow! Well, that's just an example, but you do want to be able to resell the items for a good profit in a short amount of time, or you will end up with inventory sitting around making you no money.
Step3
When you have found a company that you feel offers the best situation, (best pricing, order minimums, etc.) you will begin to determine how much you will resell the product for and where you will sell it.
When deciding on a resell price, you will want to make at least double what you paid for it, after all expenses. I like to be able to triple my money and have done so consistently. You may even be able to go higher if you have a high demand product that you found at a low price.
Step4
After you set your ideal price, you will then need to find a distribution avenue. Many wholesale distributors are looking to eBay to resell their items. This is a very good option, especially because you can sell a large amount of the same item with one auction. However, eBay is just one way to resell.
Amazon is another way to get started. They also allow you to list your items for sale on their site. The difference from eBay, is that Amazon is not an auction. You simply list your items at a set price and wait for them to sell.
Step5
There are many other options for reselling your items, you just need to get creative. Look to other sites featuring similar items and see if you can set up a joint venture agreement, or try featuring you products on a friends site. Think of all the ways that you could reach potential buyers. You could even use your local area retailers and consignment stores if you decide to take your business offline.
