For many Cambridge natives, Cafe Pamplona is symbol of the "old" Harvard Square, one made up of independent shops and restaurants. This splendid coffee shop was founded in 1959 by a native of Spain, and was the first Cafe in the square. Thankfully, Au Bon Pain it is not. Pamplona is a wonderful spot to have an espresso any time you are in Cambridge.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • A Charlie Card for the T

Step1
Take the Red Line subway to Harvard Square Station.
Step2
Exit the station up the long escalators that lead to Massachusetts Avenue.
Step3
Turn and begin walking down Massachusetts Avenue. You should pass a large Au Bon Pain on your right.
Step4
Continue about four blocks until you reach Bow Street.
Step5
Take a right on the far side of Bow and continue half a block until you reach Cafe Pamplona.
Step6
Take a seat inside or out, and order a cup of amazing coffee.

Tips & Warnings

  • Absolutely ask to see the pastry tray.
