How to Enroll in the Department of Labor Job Corps
Job Corps is a vocational and education program for young people ages 16 to 24. At a job corps location, young people get a chance to earn their high school diploma or G.E.D., learn a trade to support themselves, and receive help in getting a job using that trade. This useful program has been around since 1964.

Learn who is eligible for Job Corps. To enroll in Job Corps, a person must be 16 to 24, a U.S. Citizen or legal resident, meet specific income requirements and be willing to participate in the program.

Contact Job Corps to begin admissions process. Eligibility will be determined and an admissions counselor will be assigned to students who are eligible and accepted.

Work with an admissions counselor to develop a Personal Career Development Plan. Depending on location, the student will be able to select from a range of career paths. With the aid of the admissions counselor, the student will develop goals for their Job Corps experience.

Meet certain time-specific goals. During one or two years, participants receive education and vocational training that will help them find careers they can use to support themselves.

Study to complete requirements for a GED or high school diploma during the program.

Find a job. Job Corps provides job assistance to graduates, so they are able to obtain employment after finishing the program.
