There are several different ways to view items in a folder. Some items, such as pictures, might be better viewed as thumbnails while others, such as Word documents, might be easier to view as a list. The following steps will show you how to change the way you view items in a chosen folder.

  • Computer using Microsoft Windows

Click “Start.”

Click “My Documents.”

Double click the folder you want to make changes to.

Click “View” on the toolbar.

From the “View” menu, choose the viewing method you wish to use for this folder. Your options include “Details," “Filmstrip” (for a folder containing graphics), “Icons,” “List,” “Thumbnails” and “Tiles.”

Tips & Warnings

  • You can further sort the items in your folder by selecting “View” from the toolbar, pointing to “Arrange Icons By” and then clicking on your choice of category.
