You can use sound effects for many different events, such as new emails, entries and exits, warnings and more. The following steps will show you how to add sound effects to your computer.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Computer with Microsoft Windows

Step1
Click “Start” and then click on “Control Panel." If you are using an older version of Windows, click “Start," point to “Settings” and then click on “Control Panel."
Step2
If your “Control Panel” is in “Category View”, click the option in the task pane that says “Switch to Classic View."
Step3
Double click “Sounds and Audio Devices.”
Step4
Click on the “Volume” tab. Under “Speaker Settings” click “Advanced”. The “Advanced Audio Properties” dialog box will open.
Step5
Click the “Effects” tab and then click “Add Effect.”
Step6
Click the sound effect you want to add, then click “OK.”

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don’t have a USB device installed and selected as the default device under “Sound Playback” you will not see the “Effects” tab.
  • If you want to remove a sound effect, click it and then click “Delete.”
