Step1
Create your affirmation for the first, second and third person singular perspectives/voices.
First person - Along with the best selling author, Brian Tracy, the 'I am' affirmation is without doubt the most powerful affirmation that one can make. This affirmation is a powerful statement of a present 'being' state. It declares, on the most personal level, that whatever 'intention' you are wanting to manifest in your life, that you already possess, presently (or 'in the now').
Second person - Have you ever felt the internal urgency that you 'need' to be doing something other than what you are presently doing? Perhaps, you are watching television when you know that you 'need' to be studying, cleaning a room or some other task.
When you feel this kind of pressure, you give yourself 'self commands'. These 'self commands' are done from the second person singular voice and perspective. I might be watching a football game when I know that I should get up and change the air filter to my air-conditioning or heating unit. I'm thinking to myself, 'I need to do that before I forget about it.' In such an instance, I might think or even utter aloud, 'Michael, you need to get yourself up and do it, right now.' When I've done this, I have used the second person singular voice to motivate myself through the 'self command'.
Third Person - Much of your self-image is built upon thinking about yourself from this perspective. In my case, it is how I perceive that other people perceive me, Michael Murphy. It is the mind's ability and common practice to step outside of yourself and form an opinion or make a judgment, looking back at yourself. We think this way on a subconscious and automatic basis.
To fully create a 'whole brain' experience in utilizing powerful affirmations for personal change and transformation, all three voices are highly effective in making that change and manifesting the intention.
Step2
Create the powerful affirmation in a positive way. I call this the 'All Pos' mode. This step is born out of the very common, 'don't see the pink elephant' syndrome. Because of the way your mind works, you have to 'see' the pink elephant in order not to 'see' (or stop) the pink elephant.
Because of television and other highly visual media in our world, our minds create picture faster and more powerfully than they can process a negative. If you've ever had a toddler that you've instructed not to touch something that can harm them, you've already experienced how the opposite behavior is elicited. The toddler obeys everything but the 'don't'. Most people write this off to a certain rebellion within the child (which could definitely be part of the equation). However, what we have observed, more often than not, is that the brain 'sees' the child acting out the undesired behavior that is being described while seemingly not hearing or processing the negative, 'don't'.
Powerful and effective affirmations should be made in 'all positive' language. Rather than make an affirmation that tells a smoker to 'quit smoking', it is better to make the affirmation that, 'I take deep and satisfying breaths that release chemicals in my brain that feel wonderful.'
Step3
Because we have such a close attachment and affinity for our individual name, a whole brain, powerful affirmation should include the usage of our both our first and last names. When creating the affirmation in the second and third person perspectives as described in Step 1, you should include your first name in the second person voice and both first and last names in the third person voice. Again, it causes a more powerful 'whole brain' experience.
Step4
Utilize music that creates brain waves that affect the brain for enhanced reception of the affirmation into the subconscious mind. You may have heard of music that resonates at 60 beats per minute or that create the 'Mozart for the mind effect.' Sheila Ostrander introduced this vital tool in her studies and writings on Super Learning. Much of the music written by the classical masters during the Baroque era of music, wrote their music at 60 beats per minute.
Bill Harris of CenterPointe Research, created what he calls Holosync. This is most commonly known as binaural music. Experts see this as an advanced tool compared to the 60 per per minute music, in causing slower and more meditative brain waves which enhance learning or affirmations.
Step5
This last step is something that I do when writing my free weekly Powerfirmations for my subscribers around the world. I utilize NLP (neuro linguistic programming) in creating powerful affirmations. NLP reveals the power of the language used in communication and how it relates to the personal preference of sensory filters. Predominantly, these sensory filter are comprised of the sense of seeing, hearing and feeling.
If an individual has a proclivity to perceive the world through poetry, music, eloquent speeches and the like, this perceive made a preferred proclivity to represent the world from an auditory (hearing) perspective.
I was sitting with a very accomplished musician at lunch one day. I was describing something to him when I paused and asked, "Do you SEE what I'm saying?" His response was, "No, but I HEAR what you're saying". Being a professional musician, he has trained his ear to HEAR what is being said rather than SEE the thing I've described and desire for him to understand.
NLP teaches that the vast majority of people represent the world, through their communication, by language that oriented in either hearing, seeing or feeling.
To include language that cover all three of this modes of representation, you create a more powerful affirmation, again creating a more powerful 'whole brain' experience.
