Many people today are taking medications regularly and often for long periods of time. It is important to take your medication exactly when you are supposed to. Here are a few steps you can take to help you remember to take the right medications at the right time and in the manner you should.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Get educated. How often are you supposed to take your medication? Some medications are prescribed only as needed while some should be taken every 12 hours or every 6 hours. Knowing how often you should take the medicine will help you set up a schedule.
Step2
Get separated. There are ways you can portion out pills so that you get the right amount of medication every day without forgetting any. One good habit to start is to set out your daily allotment of pills the night before. Another way to remind yourself is to set an alarm on your phone to go off every time you need to take a dose. There are also containers with marked compartments that you can fill just once a week.
Step3
Routine. If you are going to be on medication for a long time, its probably a good idea to get into some kind of a schedule. If you must take two pills a day for the rest of your life, make it a habit to take one first thing in the morning and again right before bedtime. Some people find it easier to take medication at set times, such as 10:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Find a system that works for you so that you're sure to get the medication you need.
