The Attorney General’s Office can also represent the state and state agencies in court, oversee criminal appeals and statewide criminal prosecutions, enforce federal and state environmental laws, handle civil suits on behalf of the state and otherwise represent the state’s interests.

The main office is located directly behind the State Capitol in Montgomery and the Attorney General's suite is on the 3rd floor. The building also houses the Alabama State Legislature.
