Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Take time to think about what you cook and where you do your prep work for those meals. Take the time to draw out your kitchen on paper.
While this may seem unnecessary, it will help you visualize the layout of the kitchen.
Step2
Take every item out of the kitchen cabinets and put on the table. By doing this, you will see what you have. Take the time to do inventory on groceries, cookware, plates and cups and everything else.
Step3
Look through every item and see what the expiration date is. Throw out the old items. You may come across ingredients or items you don’t even remember why you purchased them, much less when you purchased them. This can be a cleansing process and will make the kitchen much more enjoyable to be in, not to mention less clutter in the cabinets.
Step4
Put the plates and glassware close to the table area. This will save everyone steps when setting the table every evening.
Step5
Pots and other cookware will go close to the stove and oven. This will save steps during cooking.
Step6
The ingredients that are used for baking should be in a cabinet by the mixer. The spices and herbs should be in a cabinet close to the stove, where you will be able to use them more easily.
