Web 2.0 is becoming more important in the ways we interact with one another, as well as in the ways we market our products. It is important to utilize these technologies in order to best strengthen your personal brand. This could not be more true than when trying to promote your artwork. Whether you are a seasoned artist or just starting out, it is essential to use everything the web has to offer in promoting your work. One of the easiest ways to do so is by starting an art blog. Not only is it a free and interactive way to share with the world, you do not have to be a professional web developer to create one.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet Access
  • Digital Camera
  • Computer
  1. Step 1

Choose a blogging service to host your blog, such as Word Press or Blogger. These services are completely free and offer templates to help you get started with the design.

  2. Step 2

Create a username, password, and name for your blog. This name will be incorporated into the blog’s unique URL, which will allow others to navigate to the site.

  3. Step 3

After you have created a username and password and title, it is time to get into the site design. Choose a template from the extensive list of options. This template will serve as the background and structure for each page of your blog and you only need to choose it once. If you change your mind later, you can always switch it without altering the content of the blog.

  4. Step 4

Create your blog’s content, including an “About me” section, link section, and pictures, if you would like. You can change the layout of the blog as you add more content.

  5. Step 5

Write your first blog entry and include interesting images of your artwork. When blogging, the style is very casual, so do not feel pressured to write in an academic or heady tone. Click the "publish" button when you are finished.

  6. Step 6

Visit other art blogs and leave interesting comments to drive traffic to your blog. Once you have a steady stream of traffic, consider adding advertising to your pages, which may bring you a little passive income.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be sure to update your blog often, as they are more interactive than traditional websites.
