Put on a good movie and get to work. That's right, it's the ultimate in multitasking and you will be amazed what you can do while not missing a bit of the storyline. If you have more than one TV, it works even better.
Make two lists of all your chores. Put everything you can do while watching TV on one side of the page and things you can't on the other. When you've finished it, you're ready to get everything set up.
Step2
Drag the ironing board and laundry basket into the living room. Put out your broom, dustpan, vacuum and all your normal cleaning supplies in a carryall or box close at hand. Put bills, mail, and other things to sort at hand. Now make sure you have a table to work at--the coffee table or a TV tray will do just fine.
Step3
Throw a load of clothes in before the movie starts. While the movie is on, pick up the living room, polish the furniture, sweep the floor (vacuuming has to wait until commercials are on) and clean the baseboards, windows and glassware.
Step4
During the commercial, go into the bathroom with your cleaning caddy or box and clean the toilet, tub and sink. Pick up rugs to be shaken or washed and sweep the floor. Listen for the movie and go back into the living room and sit down with your mending, sorting or bill paying and work on that.
Step5
Finish the bathroom by mopping and cleaning the glassware and move your caddy to the next room without a TV. When you hear the movie start, finish the tasks you had or go to a room with a TV and start in there. You can fold and iron clothes, shine shoes (use the coffee table and some newspapers), make out To Do and grocery lists, chop vegetables, make meatballs (a large cutting board and two bowls are all you need) and polish the silver all while sitting down.
Step6
During other commercials, run the vacuum, swap the clothes in your washer and dryer, pick up the kitchen and do anything else that's noisy or out of the line of the television. You will be amazed at how much you'll get done. It will also seem to go very quickly because you sit down and work part of the time.
Tips & Warnings
As you finish each chore, put things away. If you're shoes are polished, put them up before you start another task or you'll have a worse mess than you started with.
