~ Myspace.com/fallenshortrocks ~ This is a very simple task that will make your computer start up smoother. That is if you have a slow start up in the first place. Most of the time this is due to having too many programs starting up. This will help your computer start faster and may even speed your machine (depending on what you have)

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • A little bit of time.
Step1
First off, go ahead and click start/Run/MSConfig (you may have to type MSconfig into the box because most computers will not let you select it from the drop down list.
Step2
Once MSConfig is up, click the Startup tab at the top.
Step3
Look through the checklist, if your computer is starting up slowly, chances are, there are a lot of programs here that should not be. Uncheck any box here that is not important. (I dont keep any of mine checked)
Step4
Click Apply at the bottom, and ok. You will probably have to restart your PC now. When you do, see how smooth it starts up. Of course there are many other ways to do this, this is just the way i have found the easiest. Good Luck!

Tips & Warnings

  • DO NOT uncheck ANY of the boxes under any of the other tabs besides startup. They can mess up your drivers, and it can be annoying to try and get fixed if you do not know how. This is very important.
