Are you waiting for your hair to grow to the length you want it? Maybe you are suffering from hair breakage. Whatever the issue, I have some tips on how you can help your hair grow, look and feel healthy.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • hair. Any length
  • Patience
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Stylist (optional)
  1. Step 1

Figure out what is causing your hair to fall out or why your here is not growing. It could be due to stress, excessive heating and chemical processing, or even your diet. Once you stop doing what is damaging your hair, you will notice the difference.

  2. Step 2

Wash your hair every week or two weeks depending on the texture and your lifestyle. Hair that is more fine tends to get oily and dirty quicker than thicker or coarse hair types.

  3. Step 3

Get your hair trimmed ever 8 weeks. Split ends will not go away if you do not cut them. If you trim it too after you won't give the hair a chance to grow.

  4. Step 4

Minimize the amount of heat you put on your hair. This can play a major role in why your hair is breaking off. Too much curling and flat ironing can dry out the hair and cause it to break.

  5. Step 5

Always curl clean hair. If you are always curling your hair and never washing it, the product you put onto your hair will build up overtime then burn.

  6. Step 6

If you must curl your hair, use a heat activated holding spray to keep your strands protected during the heating process.

  7. Step 7

Deep condition your hair every two weeks to strengthening it.

  8. Step 8

Keep your hair moisturize. This helps to keep the hair healthy and shiny and looking its bets. Try light oils that don't weigh down the hair.

  9. Step 9

Wrap your hair at night with a silk or satin scarf or sleep on a silk or satin pillow case. Wrapping the hair keeps the hair from frizzing and getting tangled and can lengthen your relaxer if you have one.

  10. Step 10

Excessive and eat well and keep a balanced diet. This plays a major role in hair health.

  11. Step 11

Avoid hairstyles that are to tight or that pull the hair in the same direction all the time. Pulling your hair too tight and too often cause stress especially along the hairline which is the part that usually breaks off first.

  12. Step 12

Be patient. your hair will not grow overnight. If you take care of it and keep it conditioned and moisturized. you'll be surprise at the progress.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try natural styles like braids. The bigger the braid, the faster the hair will grow.
  • Wear a weave. I like to wear cap weaves because they're easy to do and you can keep your hair braided underneath and give it some much needed rest. ( Cap weave how-to coming soon)
  • After washing your hair instead of blow drying it wrap it or twist it with setting lotion and wear it curly.
  • If your hair is relaxed. Wait six to eight weeks before a touch up and only touch up the new growth
  • Great products to try are motions shampoo and conditioner or pantene relaxed and natural. Get you split ends cut. If not, they will just keep splitting. the more they split the more you will need to get cut off.
  • Do not put to much heat on your hair. African American hair though strong is very delicate when it comes to heat.
  • Don't pull the hair in the same direction all the time. Try repositioning your pony tails every now and then or cornrowing your hair in different patterns.
