If you have legal custody/ guardianship of a child you can file to get a restraining order on behalf of the child. Sometimes people will seek a restraining order because the child has been abused by the other biological parent or is an immediate threat to the child. You can also seek to get a restraining order on behalf of a child is your child is in a dating relationship with a person and that person is abusing them. You can also get a restraining order on a family member or friend who has been abusing the child.
