Google search results for 'social networking sites'Choose a social networking site. If you do not have one in mind, utilize an Internet search engine such as Google.com to find one.

Review the site. Does it meet your needs? A site that you would use for personal non-work connections, such as Facebook, may not be effective for the workplace. You may want to use one such as LinkedIn.

Ask your colleagues and friends what site or sites they recommend.

Review the sites. Do the current participants appear to be people you want to connect with?

Advanced search on LinkedInFor demonstration purposes, we will use the LinkedIn site. The first place to search for connections is your current workplace. Send invitations to each person you wish to connect with.
