Make sure your version of Itunes is 7.6 (this is very important, it wont work w/out it!)
You can check the I-Tunes version by clicking HELP, then ABOUT I-TUNES in the menu bar.

Once you have verified your version, navigate to the Itunes store - Internet access required, and click on the software update button on the main screen (if you are reading this after January 2008, you may have to search a little for it.)
If you have ITouch version 1.1.3 and Itunes version 7.6, there should be a button called "go to software update".
Click this now - if there is red text, you did something wrong, check your versions again. If the versions are correct, try restarting your system, Ipod and Itunes. Then try again.

It should take no more than a minute to download.

  5. Step 5

Restart your Ipod after unplugging it safely.
All the new "apps" should be there... and you are done!

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have any problems with upgrading, contact Apple support, there should be a number on the website - just go to www.apple.com.
  • Follow all guides and instructions in your manual first - you should be familiar with the basics of using an IPOD and ITUNES before venturing into upgrade-land.
