Emotions are high and hopefully they're all good. You have just been married to the person of your dreams and now your first plan as man and wife are to move across the country. This is something that not too many people do; most people get settled down at a place and then get married; however it is becoming the growing trend to do things that seem not to make sense and so if you are going to go down this road and radically change your life first in marriage and second in time zone then you need to have a plan in place.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • car
  • spouse
  • bankroll (for gas)

How to Move Across Country Following A Wedding

Step1
Agree to Agree: If you are actually going to make the move across the country that you want to be sure you're doing it for the right reasons. If you and your future spouse cannot agree that this is the right thing for you both to do at this moment then you shouldn't do it. It is very easy to acquiesce and just go along with things in the heat of the moment but if moving across country doesn't make sense for one or the other or both of you at this moment then you should not do it. So you need to have that conversation and you both need to agree to agree.
Step2
PURE: I love that name! Vegas Baby! Chart Your Course: If you are going to be moving across the country there are probably things you want to see along the way. You should definitely chart a course and make it a fun trip rather than just making it a bee line to get to where you are going. And be not afraid to take those diversions if you're not really racing to a job which has a start date or anything like that. Sometimes it is the trips that we'd never planned on taking which are the most interesting of them all.
Step3
Pick Your Driver: Driving is something that takes a lot of energy and concentration; if you cannot switch off on the driver, if one or the other of you does not want to drive, then you should always make sure you get adequate rest and make frequent stops. Having one person behind the wheel for 20 hours in a row with the only rest being to get gas is a really bad idea. So make sure you have established how the driving will go and stick to that plan because, as your mother always warned you, you want to make sure you get there in one piece.
Step4
Sail Away: If you have moved out of your previous residence and you don't have any rent to pay right away it is tempting to just kind of hang out. While that is interesting and fun you want to be sure that you get where you need to go eventually. So once all the details are taken care of and once the wedding is over and once all the stuff is on its way either by freight or whatever then you need to break away from that comfort that is your friends and family get on the road!

Tips & Warnings
